Sunday School

our sunday school at second baptist springfield is having one lesson each month about "grey matters". the first one was about alchohol, second was body image, and third will be partying. i missed the first one, but the one about body image was great. here's some notes i took.

I. Think about fellow believers. Do not be a stumbling block. (he elaborated more on this the week that i missed)
II. Think about non-believers. What would they percieve (about you as a believer)? Perception is REALITY.
1 Corinthians 9--We have personal rights; being paid for ministry, taking a wife, etc.
9:12--We do not use this right...endure all things lest we hinder the Gospel. (How?) Paul didn't want others to perceive that he was preaching only for money, like others were.
9:19-23--This SOUNDS like a way to justify wrong behaviors.
How do their perceptions of me affect the Gospel? ives up ANY rights, so as not to hinder the Gospel.
9:24-27--27--Sacrifice personal rights to win the race.
As believers be ministers of Christ FIRST, before you're concerned about expressing yourself with your personal rights. It's NOT about YOU!
When you leave your home and go to a foreign country, you willingly give up personal freedoms to better evangelize. Why do we not do it here?
1 Peter 1:1-2--If you are a believer, this world is not even your home. Home is Heaven. You are living in you mission field. You are a believer, you give up personal freedoms to Christ.

Goal: To be perceived as Christ.
Express ourselves vs. Express GOD through ourselves

so yeah. i just thought i'd share those. they might not make sense since you weren't there, but hopefully you'll get the idea. i think God's really trying to reveal something to me. First, Dr. Reeves spoke on how we are a consumer driven society, and now this lesson on how it's not just about how YOU feel. i need to stop focusing on myself and look elsewhere. more closely at Him i think.

homecoming...

well, today was an interesting day

i had a blast at the parade...go MEMORIAL!! 2nd place woooo!!   the game was really tiring.  a girl got injured before the game so we couldn't do our routine at half-time... : (   but our team pulled out a victory for us!!!  i think the final score was 39-21.  it was very exciting and the crowd was awesome.   oh man, i got toasted though.  you can definitely see the outline of the top of my shell on my shoulders and neck.  and my face is pretty red.  but like i said, we won, so it was worth it  : )

did i mention that i killed suzi?  i lef her lights on, so she's dead in the music parking lot.  i found a boy to help me fx her tho...yay!   it's always good to have boys to do things to your car for free.

man, i have lots of homework to do before monday...yuck.  today was 9-5 cheerleading stuff, then dinner, then nap, then walk to DQ and around the square.  i'm exhausted.  gotta get up for church tomorrow tho...2nd Baptist Springfield yeah!  i really like that church.  the college dept is pretty cool. i haven't gotten to know everyone yet, but whatever.  we are doing a women's bible study on the book Captivating by John and Staci Eldredge.  it's an amazing book.  all you girls out there should read it.  you won't believe how true it is.  and all you guys out there should read it to find out what girls are all about.  we would heart you if you did  : ).

later...
